Flying is instant gratification, Trains are delayed gratification.

Understatement

I don't like to fly.

However, this is not just a validation of my dislike, but rather a plea to your environmental and emotional effects for your desire to get there quickly. Terrible phrasing aside, there's a clear environmental benefits of Trains, Trains offer the last refuge of slow traveling. We reduce the speed of travel to reduce the hangover effects of it. In today's rushed world, going slow and steady gives you the same results. The gratification of being someplace is the same. How you got there is another payout - did you cramp yourself into a tiny seat to fly at the whim of an able-bodied pilot and cheapest fare available?
