My Daily Vitamin Regimen and the Reasons behind each Supplement Choice

pills

In my earlier post, where I describe how I handle portion control with my handful of neurotropic pills I take daily, I neglected to actually list those pills. Here's my list, with information culled from WebMD with the intended benefits of each:

  • Phosphatidyl Choline 840mg/day
  • Flaxseed oil 1000mg
  • Men's Multivitamin
  • CoQ10 200mg/day
  • Ginkgo Biloba 120mg
  • D3 2000iu
  • Vitamin B5

Evening Regimen

  • Phosphatidyl Choline 840mg/day
  • B-100 Complex
  • Fish Oil 1200mg 360mg omega-9
  • Garlic 500mg
  • Aspirin 81mg
  • Magnesium 500mg

Vitamins & Suppliments

Phosphatidyl Choline 840mg/day

One of the highest recommended supplements, I use it for treating “brain-centered” conditions such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, manic-depressive disorders, circulation problems, high cholesterol, for boosting the immune system; and for preventing aging.

CoQ10 200mg/day

Similar to a vitamin, it is found in every cell of the body and is used to produce energy your body needs for cell growth and maintenance. It also functions as an antioxidant, and is said to help heart failure and periodontal disease. It is also said to boost energy and speed recovery from exercise.

D3 2000iu

Used for conditions of the heart and blood vessels, including high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It is also used for boosting the immune system, preventing autoimmune diseases, and preventing cancer. High doses help mimic natural sunlight, and postpone Seasonal Affective Disorder. Come wintertime, you need all the Vitamin D you can get.

B-100 Complex

This product is a combination of B vitamins (including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin/niacinamide, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, and pantothenic acid) used to treat or prevent vitamin deficiency due to poor diet.

Fish Oil 1200mg 360mg omega-9

Contains both docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) which are very important in preventing and managing heart disease. Also helps Lower blood pressure, Slow the development of plaque in the arteries, Reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke, and lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease.

Flaxseed oil 1000mg

Source of polyunsaturated fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic acid. The alpha-linolenic acid and related chemicals in flaxseed oil seem to decrease inflammation. I use it to treat high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Supposedly also helps prevent prostate cancer, and helps with Weight loss.

Ginkgo Biloba 120mg

Improves blood flow to the brain and acts as an antioxidant. Might modestly boost memory and cognitive speed. It might also help with some other circulation problems.

Garlic 500mg

Used to treat my conditions related to the heart and blood system: high blood pressure and high cholesterol. There is evidence that fresh garlic can kill certain bacteria such as E. coli, antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella enteritidis in the laboratory.

Magnesium 500mg

Magnesium helps keep blood pressure normal, bones strong, and the heart rhythm steady. This helps with my Plantar Facitis, along with Vitamin B5. Both are used to treat the tendons that are giving me pain.

Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5)

This is a widely used Vitamin to treat just about everything, both internal and externally. It helps if you take this with Vitamin C (Citric Acid), which helps absorbency. I'm taking it as a supplement to treat my Plantar Facitis.

Over The Counter

Aspirin 81mg

Most Doctor's recommend an aspirin a day to help keep your heart healthy. It helps thin your blood and that helps lower blood pressure and prolong life. It's a small cost for a big result.

Men's Supplemental Vitamin

This is a catch all for any 'missing' vitamins I might neglect with my food intake. Some of the ingredients in this are repeated in high dosages.

I'm also considering adding Aniracetam to the schedule.
